tried a data flow but get an error

Hi, i'm trying to get my head around dataflows (at least a little bit) so i can understand more of MS's strategy for data sources, datasets, reusability etc.  I chose "define new tables"->"sql server" and tried to connect to a db on my local from a workspace called "bear".  I get the error you see below.  I am on a trial basis (it was unintentional but probably for a pro license) with about 46 days left.  I would have thought my sql server gateway would show up in the data flow's list of gateways but all i see is "(none)".  Accourding to the service, my gateway is online.  Can someone help?

  • yes, you need the "standard" gateway which is aka "enterprise".  It shows up automatically in the service under the "on prem gateway items" heading, to the right of personal mode connections.  It also shows automatically in a drop down when plumbing the datflow.  It wasnt clear if i had to change the default service account (NT SERVICE) during install but I'm leaving that alone for now.  My pc knows me as my personal 365 email address and thats what i used in the credentials when plumbing the dataflow to the on prem sql gateway.

it could be that a personal gateway wont do it.  I see a download for a standard gateway.  And an article that says it must be an enterprise gateway.  Hope those (std and enterprise) are the same thing and will try downloading a standard gateway.
