sharing report in power Bi Pro

Hello

I have a question about report sharing between "power Bi Pro" and "Normal Power bi" users. My colleague sent me a report with a Pro user, but it was opened to me on the power bi Pro trial (now 20 days trial). I would like to know if it is possible to see it on my regular power bi desktop? And what will happen when the trial period is over? Am I not able to access the report or can I open it in power bi desktop?

Thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing from you.

With respect

Neda

Hello @nedamemarian

The Power BI Desktop application on Windows is really meant for creating Power BI reports. These Reports are then uploaded into the Power BI cloud (Which requires a licence) and shared with other users.

These other users don't need Power BI Desktop but can view and interact with the Report in the cloud through their browser. If you use Pro licences, everyone who needs to see the Report requires a Power BI Pro licence.

Depending on the options set when sharing you may be able to download the Report to your PC and open it with Power BI desktop (From the Report in the cloud look at "File" , "Download this file" ) But you have then downloaded a copy of the original report.

After your Power BI Pro trial licence period is over you will revert to a Power BI free licence, and not be able to see Reports shared with you from a Pro licence.
