Hi All,
To connect Azure SQL Database which is cloud based to power BI , we do not need gateway for refresh , how ever do we need Service account for Dataset schedule refresh or not ?
Can the dataset refresh work with publisher account even after he/she exits the company ?
Cheers,

Hi, @schoden
Any developer including you can be the dataset owner. And you can also use "take over" feature in the setting of the dataset to be the dataset owner after he/she exits the company .
For more information, you can refer to :
How to Change the Dataset Owner - Microsoft Power BI Community
If you want to use a service account to be a owner then that service account should also have Power BI Pro license.
For more information, you can refer to :

Hi,
Can you please explain more about using or creating a service account for Power BI? We have created so many Power BI reports and there are so many datasets to take over when someone left. Service account is the right idea to proceed. Yet, how do I find out the license required for a Power BI service account? How's the license cost different from the individual account?
There seems to be some posts about using API to assign datasets to a "group". Any thoughts?
