Hi Everybody, tks for your time to help me.
I need to share a dataset to an external cliente with a different tenant, but i'm facing a little problem.
I followed all the instruction in the documentation
(https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-dataset-external-org-share-prov...) and all tenant settings ("Allow specific users to turn on external data sharing","Guest users can work with shared datasets in their own tenants") are set as Able.
I invited the client via Azure following the instruction in the documentation(https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/enterprise/service-admin-azure-ad-b2b#planned-invites)
The Client accepted the invite, but the invite link show just one "empty" page, with any kind of information (Is that right?):
When I share the dataset, the EXT user appers as was expected
The problems begin when the external user try to conect to the dataset shared.
He followed the instruction in the documentation (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-dataset-external-org-share-view...but the EXTERNAL DATA option does not exist in the data hub, neither in the powerbi service, neither the power bi desktop.
So, what heve i do wrong?
Do I need to share the report too?
Does the external user need to have access to the workspace too? Or just the access to the dataset with the build permission?
There is any expecific setting in the Azure Portal that i have to set to make this work?
Tks for your time
Edit: The Dataset are in one Workspace Premium and the external user have the PRO licence
Solved! Go to Solution.
It is working for me. If the user cannot see the External data, I would try if possible with another user?
If that does not work then there might be something missed in one of your steps?
Goodday Everybody,
Also having this problem and have not find a solution yet.
Trying to get a dataset shared to an external tentant. This has worked in the past but now i am not getting to work it again.
Tried everything in the tutiorial:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-dataset-external-org-share-view
Already tried the following cases:
- External user and dataset tenant are in the same region;
- External sharing is enabeled in tenant settings;
- External sharing is enabeled in on the dataset;
- External user has permissions to the dataset;
- External user has a pro license;
- Dataset doesn't have live connections set;
It is not visibile in the online service and in dekstop (also enabled the preview function).
Is there something i am overseeing? Thanks in advance for your help!
hi, I do have the same issue. Does anyone have a solution for this?
Hello @whereismydata,
Just follow the documentation as I did.
But you will need to wait 1 day or 2 to see the results.
I know that can take a while, but will work.
I had the same issue. This is still a preview feature. If you turn this on in your PowerBI Desktop settings and restart PowerBI desktop, it will appear.
Hey @GilbertQ , tks for your answer.
Thats what i trying to figure out. I made the test with 3 diferentes external users, but all of then are in the same tenant.
Looking for the prints that i posted here, where do you belive i'm missing something?
About the questions that i made bafero, did someone know the answers?
