"Allow unrestricted measures in DirectQuery mode" is not there !!!

Screenshot from 2023-03-29 16-10-43.pngI'm using DirectQuery as data connectivity mode in my project. But I want to use some functions like FILTER, CALCULATE, LOOKUPVALUE etc.

I can use them when I'm creating Measures. But I want to use them when creating Columns.

I'm Using,

Power Bi Desktop Version: 2.112.1161.0 64-bit (December 2022)

Hi , @tmanohara

According to your description, you want to use the FILTER, CALCULATE, LOOKUPVALUE in Direct query.

Sorry for this function can not be used to create a column in the Direct Query mode :

These function is not supported for use in DirectQuery mode when used in calculated columns or row-level security (RLS) rules.

For this , you can refer to the Dax document to check if some function can be used  to create a column in the Direct Query mode.

The main reason is that under Direct Quey mode, only DAX statements that support query folding (converting DAX statements into the language of the data source, so as to send the corresponding query to the data source in real time) can be used, which is also the limitation of Direct Query mode.

For more information, you can refer to :
LOOKUPVALUE function (DAX) - DAX | Microsoft Learn
