Hi there

Just to confirm you are running on Power BI Premium?

And that you have a table for it to export to Excel?

What happens if you try a different attachment?

After multiple testing confirmed the power bi report builder rdl published in power bi service only works for csv / pdf attachments, does not work for Excel attachments

Thanks for letting us know.

Please advise if there is an email / contact / Forum thread where i can bring this to the attention of Microsoft power bi team ?

Hi there

Currently this is not supported. They are looking to support more formats in the future.

You can vote for it on https://ideas.powerbi.com

RDL subscription should work for Excel.  When viewing the report in the PBI portal, can you successfully export to Excel?

what is "power bi portal" ? so i have an rdl developed in report builder, source for this is power bi dataset

Now I publish this rdl on the service, and just like any other report, i subscribe it and choose excel as attachment format, I don't get subscription emails...however, it works for csv attachments....

Documentation may mention excel but its not working...you may please try it once as an example. Note the requirement is user wants email in his inbox with report attached. Thats what I am trying to achieve here.

Hi there

I can confirm that this is correct as shown in the link below
