power Bi copilot narrative visual
Will the narrative engine work with the existing query that was already saved as part of the report? I’m not trying to modify the question that was provided to the narrative engine; I just want to retrieve the answer using the REST API. Can this be done?

Currently, the Power BI REST API does not offer a direct method to retrieve Smart Narrative insights or AI-generated text from reports. The narrative engine for Smart Narratives functions dynamically within the report but does not expose its output through an API.
Note: I mentioned Smart Narrative insights because, currently, Microsoft does not officially document a feature called "Narrative Engine" in Power BI.However, there are alternative methods to programmatically obtain similar insights.
If your Smart Narrative insights are derived from DAX measures or calculated fields, you can use the DAX REST API. This allows you to execute queries on datasets and extract calculated values.
