Hello friends,
I have a problem that I can't solve.
I'm trying to connect my postgresql to Power BI without an ODBC connection and I managed to do it.
After I uploaded my dashboard, it doesn't refresh on the web for some unknown reason.
This is the error I am getting - DataSource.Error: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.'.
I did a full check and saw that I can't enter a user in Data source credentials and I get an error of - Failed to update data source credentials: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.'
So I created a new Cloud connections connection based on the existing connection so I put my user in Not Encrypted mode.
It shows me that the connection is online, but when I try to refresh the data, it gives me the error again - DataSource.Error: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.'
I would be very grateful for your help.

It seems to be a specific problem with postgresql. As soon as I switched to RDS's mysql, the problem was fixed.
Hi. Working with RDS postgres and powerbi has some tricks for remote certificates at the VM with the Gateway. You need a gateway because of the certificate. You can check this post out in order to follow the process.

I hope that helps,

If I switch to MySQL it should solve the problem and I won't have to use Gateway?
I'm not sure. But i would say no. The certificate requested here is because you are using AWS RDS database, it's not something about postgres specially. If you are working in an analytics project, the alternatives for non gateway at AWS are redshift and databricks. If you are working for a transactional database I honestly don't know which one could work without a gateway.
I hope that make sense

Thanks for the answer.
The problem with Gateway is that I need it to be based on my computer. How can I make it not be based on my desktop?
The best approach here would be turning on an EC3 over AWS. If you are already working with AWS then a VM on the same cloud would help to keep the data flowing fast over the cloud.
I hope that helps,
