operational data stores and the service

Hi, i'm just juming in again to pbi.  I often see Operational Data Stores (ODS) in my work.  They arent front ends (oltp).  They arent warehouses.  They are generally a small window of more current data used to run the business.   How do you talk a user into using the service (as opposed to on prem) for generating somewhat important reports from this data when the service can become unavailable due to an internet interruption?

thx Gilbert.  I suppose they can run their reports right from the desktop or report builder as a plan B.  also, I dont believe its true that they would have to be at work to run under plan B.  but of course they would need an internet connection to do so.

Hi @db042190

I would say that the Power BI Service has really good uptime and as long as you have an internet connection it works well.

Another point to make is that your users could tthen connect to the Power BI Service from any place as long as they have got an internet connection and a browser. While when it is on prem they have to be at work to see the reports?
