on premise gateway data

Hi,

A very simple question, with the on premise gateway I understand the data is held on premise, can I take from this none of our data is held in the cloud. So, if I have a dasboard where the data comes from the on premise data store, this data is not held in the cloud ?

I just need to be clear where our data will be persistant ?

@dduffy Couple things. To answer your question, the gateway doesn't determine whether or not your data is pushed to the cloud. The connection type does.

If you "Import" -> your data gets pushed to the cloud

If you use Direct Query or Live Connection -> your data stays in the source (on premises)
