on premise gateway data

    dduffy Couple things. To answer your question, the gateway doesn't determine whether or not your data is pushed to the cloud. The connection type does.

    If you "Import" -> your data gets pushed to the cloud

    If you use Direct Query or Live Connection -> your data stays in the source (on premises)

     

    If you want to read thru the end to end process you should read the gnarly details in the security whitepaper here
