i used power bi to generate report which connects to the db, which needs openvpn on my local laptop. now i published the report and try to refresh it, but it's not working due to it needs openvpn to connect to db. the database server is on linux ec2 machine, and gateway can't be installed there. is there any way to refresh the report after publishing and how to avoid the vpn issue?
No. Power BI has no idea what a VPN is or how to operate it.
is there a way to get PowerBI server CIDR?
Please explain what you mean by "Power BI Server". Do you mean the Power BI Service in Azure, Or Power BI Report Server on-premise?
The semantic model I published after finishing with powerBI desktop
That semantic model resides in the Azure cloud. far away from any VPNs
is there any way to refresh the report after publishing?
If the semantic model has a scheduled refresh set up then every time you publish from the Power BI Desktop to the workspace that will initiate an ad-hoc refresh.
so now we have a postgresql db in ec2 linux machine, and we want to auto refresh the powerBI report after publising. is there any way to get this work?
If the semantic model has a scheduled refresh set up then every time you MANUALLY publish from the Power BI Desktop to the workspace that will initiate an AUTOMATIC-ish ad-hoc refresh.
we don't want to have any manual process. so manually publish won't be an option.
Based on your setup it's your only option.
