how to refresh a report based on API calls ?
Hello,
I am quite new to Power BI but already made several reports.
I am struggling with the report refreshing part, it doesn't seem to work when I click on refresh button once it is published and I don't see the visual to set the refresh parameters while creating the reports, which should be under a "paint" icon I think (why does Power BI service shows a refresh button on a report that wouldn't allowed to be refreshed by the way ?).
I think I understood that in order to have the refresh possibility, the data sources need to be in Direct Query mode. Problem for me, I have started all my queries from "blank query" and I don't know how to make them of type "direct query". All my reports are built from API calls, so I don't understand why all my API calls couldn't be triggered each time I press a refresh button from the published reports.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Anonymous
In order to refresh your Power BI reports, you will need to install and configure the Power BI On-Premise Gateway. This will allow you to refresh your Power BI Reports.
Here is some documentation to get you started: Install an on-premises data gateway | Microsoft Docs

Thank you for your answer. I am trying to get the gateway to be installed. But in the meantime, what I don't understand is that even then, this won't bring up in Power BI Desktop the following refresh parameters, will it ? :
