how to make sure data refresh taking place successfully

I have published a pbix report to Power BI service, and built a gateway to refresh the data on daily basis. The gateway shows data refreshing was carried out successfully this morning, but data in the report seems to be old. I have tried to use Edit-Refresh button in Power Workspace and refreshed the brower, but none of them works.

I have todownloaded the report to desktop and refresh data in Power Query, only this time, does the data get refreshed quickly.

As anyone experienced a similar issue? How can I make sure data refresh taking place successfully? I thought as long as gateway shows data refresh succeeds, the report should be refreshed. But it doesn't seem to be the case here.

That sounds like a very odd issue! Few questions rather than answer:

1) Assuming you've gone into the datasets refresh history and it actually says it's successful? In past I've occasionaly had one just time out.
2) What is the datasource you're connecting to?

3) Is your On Prem Data gateway up to date.

4) The On Prem data gateway should have some logging (although you may have to enable it) which might shed some light.
