I have created a new datamart by loading data from excel that contains transactional data
In Power BI Datamart, I created 2 queries that gives me monthly and yearly summary. I want to join these results with the main table either in the same datamart, or I sould be able to consume it in a fresh Power BI report from power bi descktop.
How can I do this?
Is it possible in power bi?
Hi @SriThiru ,
In Power BI Desktop, you select Datamart from the Data Hub option like this:
Or, you could go to "Get Data" select "more" and then select "Datamarts (Preview)" .

In Data Hub, the menu item you depicted is not enabled. In Data Mart, all but one of the buttons in the Data section of that toolbar are disabled... sucks.
Hi @collinq ,
Thanks for your reply, but I'm not looking for this.
By using the Datamarts connection in Power BI desktop I can only consume the dataflow table from the Power BI Datamart, but I want to consume the data from the queries I created in Power BI Datamart.
I tried both "Connect" and "Connect to SQL endpoint". Both options provide the same capability, unable to connect to the queries
Hey @SriThiru ,
I don't believe that you can open that in Desktop. You can open that up in SSMS or Azure - since this is a SQL DQL and not something that can be consumed by Desktop. I am basing that on this article: Analyzing datamarts (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

He was asking how to use the query he built within Data Mart. Regardless of desktop or web, how do you use that query in a visualization? The query is NOT based on SQL, but rather the Data Mart itself. I don't think this question was even understood, let alone answered. I am looking for the same thing and cannot find an answer anywhere.
Hi @RenegadeJr100 ,
If you want to use a query in a visualization, you can do so within the datamart tool (as of February update). As I stated above, you cannot use that query in the Service or Desktop.
