forbidden error when trying to access pbi dataset via Excel.

I'm having issues with an Excel connection to a dataset in powered service. Users added as members to the security group, where the security group has all the access rights to the workspace ,
still the user cannot access the report via Excel. Gets forbidden error.

HAve access to the dataset via security group which has member level access on workspace level.

if we add the same user as an individual user with read, build rights then he or she is able to access the dataset via excel. The excel will be downloaded to their own systems, after that if they refresh, they should be able see all the data in the excel report. But they get a fobidden error. This same error will not popup when they are added as the user instead of security group.

Hi @t123 ,

If your user has the appropriate permisions to correct security group but does not have access to the location, they can get this message.  In other words, if the Excel file's location is something like a shared network drive or a somebody's personal computer that they do not have access to, then they will see that error.  If it is in a SharePoint folder they don't have access to they will get the same problem.  Are you using a gateway?  I think that your issue is the Data Source and not the Workspace permissions.
