excel uploaded not visible under datasets

I am trying to add an excel as a Dataset. But after uploading it only appears only under Reports and not Datasets. I have checked the excel and it is formatted as a table. Is there something that I am missing? Or is my understanding not correct?

You should choose Import option.

If your Excel file is a workbook, please import it into Power BI Desktop instead of using "Get Data" so that the model can be loaded.

Can this be done using PowerBI Service?

@khushboosinha

You can import the file on Power BI Service. See: Get data from Excel workbook files.

You may need to refresh the page to see the uploaded dataset appear in the list of datasets.
