excel formatting for Power BI export

Hope that I am posting this in the right area. I'm new to power BI, and to the forum. At the moment what I am trying to do is format how power BI's data so that when a user exports it to an excel sheet it's already got a correct title, and all the rows and columns are positioned correctly, thanks!

Hi @jhearn ,

Power BI report designers control the types of data export options that are available for their consumers. The choices are:

  • Allow end users to export summarized data from the Power BI service or Power BI Report Server

  • Allow end users to export both summarized and underlying data from the service or Report Server

  • Don't allow end users to export any data from the service or Report Server

To set these options:

  1. Start in Power BI Desktop.

  2. From the upper left corner, select File > Options and Settings > Options.

  3. Under CURRENT FILE, select Report settings.

The issue I was having was cell placement, and naming of the export.

Hi @jhearn ,

In Power BI, Export Data feature is used for exporting data, without keeping visual format in .

Besides, I found there is a same feature request posted in Power BI Idea forum, you can see  comment on it: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual.

@jhearn - Not sure if I understood your use cases correctly, but try this link which clearly explains about auto detecting the column data types and formatting https://carldesouza.com/automatically-detect-data-types-in-power-bi/

If this resolve your query, pls accept the solution.

Many Thanks
