directquery report to service

Hi All,

Here's my usecase, I need to create a report in powerbi and embed it in my portal so its accessible when I login to this portal and also that this embedded report refreshes automatically every few minutes (data changes quickly).

So I am trying to create a direct query connection to my postgresql DB( getting certificate error currently) in desktop, create report and publish to PB service. From the service I am going to get the embed link to embed report in my portal in an iframe. My question is will this published report to PB service work in the same manner there as in the auto refresh will work  and the connection will still be direct query in Service and not that it copies the current dataset there at the time of publishing.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Direct Query does not mean auto refresh.  It means that the data stays at the source (which is what you want) and it only gets queried when someone or something touches the report page or a visual.

"Automatic Page refresh" basically does that touching for you. Not sure if your license supports it.

Hi @blueflower ,

As mentioned by lbendlin, you can use automatic page refresh, please refer to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-automatic-page-refresh#automatic-pa...
