Hey there
I have created a report on my power bi desktop using data imported from a PostgreSQL database and everything is working fine.
But now that I published my report on pbi service, when I try to refresh the dataset on the pbi service, I get the following error msg: "Failed to update data source credentials: The PostgreSQL source doesn't support encrypted connections".
Someone has an idea how do I solve this?
and on another note, do I need a gateway to connect to a PostgreSQL database?
Thanks
Giovani

To disable the encrypted connection you need to access the data source settings in Power BI Desktop, and edit the permissions for your postgresql data source. There is an option labeled "Encrypt Connection" which you can deselect.
You can find the option by expanding the arrow under transform data, or in your file > options and settings > data source settings.
If your Postgresql is hosted online, and not on a local network, then you shouldn't need a gateway in order to refresh the data. I'm not familiar with the specifics of using Postgresql in PowerBI so that's more of a logical guess than an confirmation.
