can we Refresh Dataset in Power BI Services without gateways

Hi All,

I am working for a client and using two data source MySQL and Excel, now client wants schedule refersh in Power BI services without any Gateways can it be possible to set schedule refresh for both MySQL and Excel data set without any Gateways, if possible then how can I set it.

Hi， @Naveen59 

Gateway can be seen as a bridge between the cloud and on-premises data transfer process.

If your data source is in the cloud, data transfer with PowerBI Service does not require a gateway.

Since your database is local, configuring the gateway is necessary. You can consider migrating data to Microsoft Azure SQL Database.

If your Excel data is on a web based repository, OneDrive, SharePoint or Teams for example you won't need a Gateway to get to that data. However MySQL Database requires a Gateway. If your Dataset mixes MySQL and Excel data you'll need a Gateway.

If your excel dataset resides in workspace onedrive , or sharepoint online. It whould not need any gateway at all.
