can't edit google analytics after initial add

Even if I add a simple dimension and data point, I cannot go back to edit the google analytics.  I cannot go back to add something or remove something.  It immediately switches to displaying 'Expression.Error: Google Analytics requires that at least one measure be specified.'

I used the google dev api guide to select the dimesions and data points that go together and this error still comes up.  Frustrating to use the service with something like this.  Any fix?
