can i create a semantic model without a report or dashboard?

Hi , as i see uses for semantic models, i wonder if i can create one for no other reason than pivoting in excel and maybe future use by pbi reports.   I dont know of a way without authoring a report in the desktop.

Yes, you can create semantic models directly in the service. Or you can upload a PBIX and delete the report.
