can admin run a report from someone else's personal ws?

hi, i'm searching various ws's in that admin portal mode and see something interesting in the personal ws of one of our vp's.  But dont see a way to run the dashboard and reports there without bugging him perhaps in choosing "request access" by hitting the ellipsis.   i also get not found when searching the title of his dashboard.    in other non personal ws's i have found that i can search for and run dashboards and reports.  do i need to request access from him?

Hi @DB  As the Power BI Admin you can get access to a Personal Workspace.

Click Settings > Admin Portal

Select Workspaces on the left. Search for the Personbal workspace of the specific user. Click Actions > Get Access

thx we are trying to leave that vp alone if possible.  is he going to have to respond to my request for access?

Hi @db042190 He won't receive an access request. As the admin you'll be granting yourself access to the workspace. You can then access the workspace and view the content, but won't be able to grant anyone else access to it.

For the "My workspace" in Power BI Service, couldn't add user to this workspace.

For the "Group workspace" in Power BI Service, if you want user could view the report, you could share the report with user, or add user to the workspace and grant the role of at least viewer, for this two ways, user to view the report also need the correct license.

thx we are all pro.  we dont use pwr automate.   and i'm asking about access if i'm an admin into someone else's personal ws.  as far as i know i dont have viewer as the ownere hasnt given me that.   and i'm not really asking as much about refresh as just rendering the report.   i think you are saying if everything remains equal, i cant render it from his personal, even with admin unless he gives me viewer.  Is that correct?

Hi,

If it is a power bi pro or premium workspace you can refresh the report from power automate or using schedule refresh option if you have any access above viewer.But you can't refresh the reports which are published on My_Workspace of your VP.

If possible move that report to group workspace(pro or premium workspace).
