calculated column gives different result on desktop than on powerbi service

Hi,

I have a powerbi report that gives different result on powerbi service after a refresh, than on desktop.

So this is the calculated column. (I reduced the complexity to make debugging easier):

Kolom = (SalesPriceListVolumeDiscounts[Verkoopprijs] -  related(Articles[Kostprijs]))
This gives me the value 3.59 (on pbi desktop).

When I publish the report, initially the value is also 3.59

But after I do a refresh on power bi service, the value changes to 944 (instead of 3.59)

The relation ship between salespricelistvolumediscounts and articles is many-to-one.

I can't figure this out.  Please help.

Hi,

I had a hunch that perhaps it had to do with datatypes. I had not cast those 2 fields to a datatype. So I cast them as 'decimal value'. I retested it. On the desktop the result was the same. On power bi service, after a refresh, I got a different result now, but still not the same as on powerbi desktop!

To make debugging easier, I have provided both pbix files, one one desktop with correct result, the other downloaded from the powerbi service after a refresh, so you can see the other result.

Hi,

You can download the file with sample data here:

This sounds very odd. What is your data source and will it be possible for you to provide the pbix file with sample data and with the actual formula.
