an error occurred while attempting to publish . the remote server returned an error

Hello, from yesterday while publishing report to one specific workspace I have an error
"an error occurred while attempting to publish "report.pbix". the remote server returned an error:(404) Not Found."

when I am trying to publish same dataset to another workspace it works fine. it is not a problem of dataset as I have tried different ones. also, it is not account problem as other accounts have the same issue.

I have contacted microsoft support, we have checked the traces. it appeared that while adding new user in workspace some kind of bug appeared in backend which was causing error on publishing new report in this workspace. I have removed the user and added him again and now everything is fine and reports are publishing.

Hi @AnanaKatso

Please find the below issues and fixes that we can do to resolve the issue:
1. Workspace Has Been Deleted or Renamed

  • Double-check in the Power BI Service if the workspace still exists under the expected name.
  • If it was renamed or deleted recently, Power BI Desktop might still be caching the old reference.

2. Try clearing the Power BI Desktop cache:

  • Close Power BI Desktop.
  • Go to:   C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop\
  • Delete or rename the Cache folder.
  • Restart and try publishing again.
