Workspace status, if admin's access is revoked

Hi All,

I have couple of scenarios regarding access management. Please address my concerns.

1. Who can control/access Workspace, if "Admin" of the workspace access is revoked ? Will it be deleted?

2. What happens to Workspace, if "Admin" of the workspace access is revoked and rest of the team has only "Contributor" access to it.? Will it promote some one as "Contributor" to "Admin"?

3. User#1 with "Admin" access created content (Dataflows/Dataset/Report) in workspace and added few other users as "Admin" to same workspace. Can other members make changes to the content (Dataflows/Report), if the User#1's access is revoked?

Hi @lkakarla2020

Taking your questions in order..

1 It shouldn't be possible to delete the last Admin. Only an Admin can remove an Admin, and the last one will get the message "You can't remove all admins from this workspace. A workspace must have at least one admin.". However if the Admin user is not removed, but the user account deleted, the Workspace will continue, but will not have an Admin.

2 Workspace do not automatically promote anyone the Admin in this instance.

The Power BI administrator has an AdminPortal that gives them access to all workspaces in their Tenant. They can un-delete deleted Workspaces, add or remove Workspace Admins and many other administrative things. If you delete, or lose a Workspace, or want an new Admin assigned then the Power BI Administrator can do it.

3 If an Workspace Admin creates another Workspace Admin, both can do everything a Workspace Admin is allowed to do. Admin1 can create Admin2 then Admin2 can remove Admin1 to effectively "take over" the Workspace.

Hope this helps
