Workspace for other teams
Hi All,
My org sales team wants to create their own reports from our database.
We have created some views in our sql server db and gave access to only those views.
Now my question is do we need to create a workspace called sales for them and use our gateway? ( We already have a gateway created)
Or they can create their own workspace and use our gateway?
Or any other we need to do
Please suggest
Hi viswaaa - approach 1 : Sales team can create their own workspace(s) within Power BI.They can still use your existing gateway as long as the administrator has given them access to it in the Power BI Service. You (or the gateway administrator) need to ensure they have gateway permissions and that they can connect to the appropriate data sources (the views you created). This gives the sales team more flexibility in managing their workspace while still ensuring data security via the gateway.
2nd approach: You can create a dedicated workspace for the sales team in Power BI.Assign read/write access to the sales team members so they can create and manage their reports.Use your existing gateway to enable data refresh and connectivity to your SQL Server. Since the gateway is already configured, the sales team can leverage it for accessing the views in your database. In this case, no additional configuration would be needed.
Hope this helps.

viswaaa ,
You can create a dedicated workspace for the sales team. This way, you can manage permissions and data access more easily. Since you already have a gateway set up, you can configure the workspace to use this gateway. This ensures that the sales team can access the SQL Server views through the gateway. (or) Allow the sales team to create their own workspace. This gives them more control over their reports and datasets. They can still use the existing gateway. You’ll need to ensure that the gateway is shared with the sales team’s workspace. This can be done by adding the necessary users to the gateway in the Power BI service.

Hi All,
Thanks for your reply.
Could you please let me know is there any difference between creating a dedicated work space by me for the sales team or allow the sales team to create their own workspace.
