I'm having a hard time understanding what the difference in app workspaces is between allowing a user to Edit, and View. When I change between both of these, I have not been able to identify any difference. Looking for clarification.

Hi @alexSPY,
The edit permission is to edit the content(dashboards/reports) within the workspace, not the Apps.
An app cannot be edited directly. In order to update a published app, we need to go to edit the related content(dashboards/reports) within the workspace first, then republish the app.

Hi All,
Member with edit permission can edit the content(dashboards/reports) within the workspace. It is recommended to give all members edit access and set the group to private, as we can include the read-only members when we publish the app now.
Member with only view permission cannot edit the content(dashboards/reports) within the workspace. Previously, we use this feature to create read-only groups to share the content within the workspace with read-only members. The main problem with this approach was that we couldn't add security groups as members. So it is recommended to use apps for these scenarios going forward.

@v-ljerr-msft thank you very much for the reply! Unfortunately, this only confuses me even more. I'll provide screenshots here to explain my confusion.
As you can see here, I have workspaces set up:
Workspaces Examples
When I go to "Edit Workspace", and edit the privacy settings though, I see no change in the user experience between "members can edit" and "members can only view". For example, this workspace app is set to the "members can edit" permission, but as you can see, the "edit" is still grayed out:
User "edit" permission
I appreciate any further clarification!

I agree, I have not been able to actually find out what difference it makes.
Would be good to know if someone else can give us some clarification.
