I originally set a data source on my work computer to refresh at 2am.
I had an email in the morning saying that the refresh had failed.
I then realised that my work computer is not connected to a network at 2am.
So, I changed my auto refresh time to 8am.
BUT I am still getting emails saying that the 2am refresh has failed. Why?

The schedule refresh time is set as showed under Schedule refresh option in picture1, once you can save this changes, there is no relation with your company.
So the schedule refresh works well as you set currently showed in picturee2, right?

If you have used on premise data gateway(personal mode) and configured schedule refresh for your dataset, then the personal gateway needs always to be online status, otherwise, it will refresh fail.
So recommend you install and configure the on premise data gateway(Standard mode), then add all data sources of your dataset under the gateway, this way, you are able to set schedule refresh using the on premises data gateway, see more details:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-enterprise-manage-scheduled-refresh.

The data source is a spreadsheet on my company's Sharepoint DMS. I didn't think this used a data gateway but I really don't know as it is all very confusing. The first sceenshot says it doesn't need a gateway though.
I certainly can't control how the data gateway is set up as this is controlled by the IT Department.
Looking at the second screenshot, it appears that my 8am refreshes ARE working. Could it be that my company has set the DMS to resfresh at 2am in addition to my 8am option?

The auto refresh IS enabled... for 8am! Not 2am. Why is it still trying to refresh at 2am?
