Why does it happen? Power Bi FREE

Hey guys

The scenario is as follows: I have a dashboard published by a PRO user in a premium workspace.

A new user tried to access this dashboard, but this message appears.

I've read some things about a trial period of 60 or 30 days as a PRO, after which the license goes back to being FREE...

The idea is to keep this user as FREE.

What should I do?

tks

I'd double check it's a Premium Workspace and that the Free User is using the report link and not the Workspace link as the Workspace is not accessible.

You could also create an App for the Workspace and have the User use the App.

The message that you are seeing is because the new user does not have a Power BI Pro license. Power BI Pro licenses are required to access content that is published in a premium workspace.

There are a few things that you can do to allow the new user to access the dashboard without having to purchase a Power BI Pro license:

  • Give the new user a free trial of Power BI Pro. Power BI offers a 60-day free trial of Power BI Pro. During the trial period, the new user will have access to all of the features of Power BI Pro, including the ability to access content that is published in a premium workspace.
  • Publish the dashboard to a non-premium workspace. Content that is published to a non-premium workspace can be accessed by users with free Power BI licenses. However, users with free Power BI licenses will not be able to use all of the features of the dashboard, such as the ability to collaborate on the dashboard or to create custom visuals.
  • Share the dashboard with the new user. You can share the dashboard with the new user by sending them a link to the dashboard. The new user will be able to view the dashboard without having to have a Power BI Pro license. However, they will not be able to make any changes to the dashboard.

The best option for you will depend on your specific needs and requirements.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:

  • The free trial of Power BI Pro is only available for new users. If the new user has already had a Power BI Pro license in the past, they will not be eligible for the free trial.
  • Content that is published to a non-premium workspace can be accessed by a limited number of users. The exact number of users who can access the content depends on the size of the workspace.
  • When you share a dashboard with someone, you can choose to give them edit permissions or view-only permissions. If you give them edit permissions, they will be able to make changes to the dashboard. If you give them view-only permissions, they will only be able to view the dashboard.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
