Who has to pay to see Power BI Visualizations I put on the Power BI service?

I understand that I must be a paying subscriber to the Power BI service in order to upload visualizations. However, it's not clear to me if people who want to see these visualizations need to pay. For example, I have a client which I'd like to create some Power BI visualizations for. However, if people at the client site actually need to pay a monthly fee just to see them, they won't pay for it.

Hey,

basically you don't need to pay.
Just create a pbiviz file, it's more easy if you have a tenant, that costs at least one Power BI Pro license.

Your client does not need to pay a monthly fee / per user if he wants to use your custom visual.

One user of your client can "import" your pbiviz file into an exististing report and upload this report to a workspace and maybe also to an app. From here your visual can be used by all Power BI users of your client. If your client already is familiar with Power BI he can add you custom visual to the "organizational store", from here all Power BI users can integrate your custom visual into their reports.

Your client has to pay for using  a Power BI workspace (if you are familiar with Sharepoint you can compare a Power BI workspace with a Sharepoint teamsite). Sharing content basically requires either a Power BI Pro license or Power BI Premium. This is independent from using a custom visual.

To make it clear: No one has to pay to use your custom visual. But someone should be paid for creating a custom visual ;Your client can use your visual in his current setup (whatever that may be), without additional costs. Maybe you should consider to legally agree upon that you are entitled to use your work on other engagements.

Regards,

Tom
