Who can do a manual refresh?

What access level is required to do a manual refresh against a dataset?

We have workspaces with both the old and new workspace experiences so I'd want to know for both.#

Thank you

  • Hey thisisausername ,

everyone who is able to publish a report to a workspace (no matter if it's a V1 or a V2 workspace) is able to manually refresh a dataset.

    Regards,

    Tom

    Hi thisisausername ,

Currently only the owner of the report will be able to refresh the report. As well as be able to schedule the refresh using the on-premise gateway as required.

When inside the workspace, if you click on the three dots up in the right corner, and then choose "Edit workspace" you can see which memebers are listed as Members/Admins/etc. There you can also see what Members are allowed to do.

Admins are allowed to manually refresh datasets from Power BI Service, and based on the chosen right for members, they may also be able to edit published material in Power BI Service, i.e. updating the dataset.
