In working with Power BI audit logs, I have come across an event called "EditDataset" of which I am unclear of the meaning. One would assume that this signifies that a user took an action in Data Sets > Actions, but each available action has its own log event associated with it, and experimentation has proven that merely clicking on an action or the More Options elipses does not produce a logged event. The documentation of the audit events is anemic at best and provides no definitions. While most are intuitive to understand the intent, this one is not.
TLDR: What is the EditDataset log event?
Hi,
I am looking for the exact same thing.
One scenario that could create "EditDataSet" is when users re-publishes from desktop to service. In this case it creates 2 entries, one is "Import" and then followed by "EditDataset".
But I noticed that there are other "EditDataset" entries without any "Import" record prior to it and wondering what could be triggering them.
Let me know if you happend to find answers.
Thanks!
Hi @Anonymous ,
"Edit dataset" operations are summarized under the "Edit Power BI dataset" activity.

@v-lionel-msft Allow me to clarify the question: What action is taken in the Power BI service that results in the generation of an EditDataset log operation?
