Web modeling - import data from MS Fabric Warehouse
- 9 months ago
Hi DavidPi,
I don't think this is possible in the web edit. The web edit doesn't allow for composite models to my knowledge, and doesn't allow creating gateway connections to on prem data.
First you would need a process, either a pipeline or dataflow gen 2, to move the data from on prem into the warehouse, and then from there you can create a semantic model in Power BI Desktop in import mode.
If you found this helpful, consider giving some Kudos. If I answered your question or solved your problem, mark this post as the solution.
Hi DavidPi You can build a semantic model on Fabric Warehouse tables or views, but the web modeling interface doesn’t yet support mixing Fabric sources with on-prem data (like Oracle via Gateway) in the same model. For hybrid Import-mode scenarios, you’ll need to use Power BI Desktop, connect to the Warehouse SQL endpoint and your Oracle source, then publish the model to Fabric.
