Web.Contents Error with SharePoint Online List(s) Implementation 2.0

I have a Premium Workspace that is linked to 3 SharePoint lists and published on Power BI service with Premium capacity. In mid-March 2023 I refreshed the data source (the sharepoint lists) and it refreshed the data sources. Circa 6 weeks later I tried to refresh the data again and got the following error. After several other manual and scheduled refresh attempts I got the same error message.

After the failure to update on Power BI service, I then tried to refresh on the Power BI desktop version of the same published app. This also failed with the following OLE DB or ODBC error message.

I have tried the following to explore / resolve this, but with no success:

SharePoint list

  • Deleted columns I had added since the last successful refresh.
  • Duplicated the list that cannot be connected to and tried to connect to it.
  • Exported an Excel of the list and connected to the Power BI (this worked).

Power BI Desktop

  • Within the April 2023 Desktop version I was able to get access to some of the SharePoint lists from the same site. For others (including one linked to the service app) I got the same Web.Contents error. I can only deduce that it is because these lists are small (less than 10 columns). It doesn't seem to be down to the format of columns in the list.
  • I was able to gain access to the SharePoint Online Lists when using Implementation 1.0 but not 2.0.
  • Using Advanced Editor in PowerQuery to amend the Source and Navigation steps so that they are the same as the other sharepoint lists that I can refresh and connect to.
  • Within Data Source Settings, logging into Microsoft 365 to ensure I have the correct permissions, which I did.

Power BI Service

  • Updated Datasource Credentials in Service to ensure that I am logged into my Microsoft 365 account. I tried this with both Private and Organisational privacy settings.

I believe that this is an issue with the April 2023 version of Power BI Desktop and Service, but just wanted to confirm this is the case? I downloaded the March 2023 version of Desktop and it was able to connect to the sharepoint lists. Is it confirmed that the May 2023 version will overcome this error? Also when will this be available?
