Web Browser Page Title Does Not Update When Navigating via Bookmarks in Power BI Service

Hello,

In Power BI Service, the browser tab title updates to include the report page name when navigating between pages. This is useful because copying the URL creates a friendly link with the page name.

However, when navigating using Bookmarks or the Bookmark Navigator, the browser tab title does not update. It retains the previous page name, which can cause confusion and results in less descriptive URLs.

Edit: applies also to Buttons Page Navigation and Page Navigator

    Problem: When using Bookmarks or Bookmark Navigator in Power BI Service, the browser tab title doesn’t update—unlike regular page navigation.
    🔹 Why: Bookmarks change visual state without reloading the page or updating the URL.
    🔹 Impact: Confusing tab titles and misleading URLs when sharing.
    🔹 Workaround: Use buttons with page navigation actions instead of bookmarks to ensure proper title and URL updates.

    Thanks for the detailed observation.

    When navigating between report pages in Power BI Service, the browser tab title and the URL both update to reflect the new page. With Page Navigator and Button Page Navigation, the URL fragment does change, but the tab title does not refresh and continues to show the previous page name. With Bookmarks or Bookmark Navigator, neither the title nor the URL updates, since these methods only change the visual state and do not trigger a page reload as said by Shahid12523.

     

    This behavior is by design today, but I agree it can cause confusion when sharing links or keeping track of open tabs. If you’d like to see the tab title update consistently across all navigation types, I recommend adding this as an idea in the Fabric Ideas forum, so the product team can review it for future improvements.
