Here are the points that I suggest to check.

 

  1. Check the Data Model for Consistent Formatting: Ensure that the measure used in your waterfall chart is formatted correctly in the data model. You can do this by navigating to the Modeling tab in Power BI Desktop, selecting your measure, and then ensuring the Format is set to Currency. This step ensures that the base formatting of the measure is as expected.

  2. Reapply Formatting in the Visualization: Sometimes, reapplying the formatting directly to the visualization can help. Select your waterfall chart, go to the Format pane, and under the Data labels section, ensure that the formatting options are set to your preference. Although Power BI should inherit the formatting from the model, manually setting it here can sometimes resolve inconsistencies.

 

If the above methods do not help you solve your problem, please provide your test PBIX file and the version number of PowerBI you are using.
