Views not available for semantic model

Thanks, I have discovered they show up in PowerBI (I'm assuming when using default model as creating a separate model doesn't allow us to include views). Based on what you're saying, even though available, they're going to query the database each usage, is that right? How different would that be to referencing the tables themselves?
Is there a new approach to role-playing tables then? Generally a view is created for each role, should that approach change?
Two years on and still no answer to this. Why can't you include views in your semantic model?
What is the best practice work around in the mean time for when you need to have role playing tables?
