Hi @KRISHI02 ,

If you publish any reports on power bi pro workspace/my_workspace then every viewer needs a pro license.

If you publish any report on premium capacity workspace then viewers don't need a pro license.

If you publish any report on premium per user workspace then viewers need a ppu license.

If your users have a Microsoft E5 license then pro license is not required.

I hope it will be helpful.

Thanks,

Sai Teja

Hey @SaiTejaTalasila ,

please be aware, that the 2nd point is only true, if the report will be accessed via an app. If the report is accessed from within the workspace a PRO license is still required.

Tom

Hi @TomMartens ,

Users without a Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license can access a workspace if the workspace is in a Power BI Premium capacity, but only if they have the Viewer role.

Thanks,

Sai Teja

Hey,

the answer is simple: this is the licensing model.

There is only one moment, when users can access content with a free Power BI license assigned:

  • users are accessing the report via a Power BI App
  • the workspace that hosts the report is backed by Power BI Premium capacity or a Fabric capacity >= F64.

Regards,

Tom
