Using gateway to refresh a Dataset in PBI Services having Snowflake as source

We are encountering an issue with refreshing our dataset in Power BI Services due to the large size of the fact table (1.2 billion rows). The error message states: "The refresh operation failed because it took too long to complete. Consider reducing the size of your dataset or breaking it up into smaller datasets." We are using Snowflake as our data source and currently do not have a gateway configured. I am seeking information on whether using a gateway could help in the refresh, and if so, what type of gateway would be most appropriate for our needs.
