Using Same Dataset for 2 reports in Embedded PBI

Hi!

 

I have received a weird error when trying to embed two reports into our company server / portal.

 

I uploaded the dataset to powerbi with my report. and then embedded that report into the server. Then i made another report using the already published dataset as a PBI dataset and published the report again. when we embedded the second report we got this error;

 

PowerBIErrorResponse(error=PowerBIError(code=InvalidRequest, message=datasets is duplicated in required 8b7515d7-d26f-4c79-908a-3a5d681e3c2e))

 

How do we fix this? making another dataset might not be a viable option as it is a pretty big data model and running parallel queries on it would cause performance issues.

    Hi Ahad-boop 

     

    I have some question to confirm:

    • Is that dataset import model?
    • the workspace where dataset from is new workspace or classic workspace? if new workspace, it will error when upload to classic workspace.

    If you just want to add a new report  to the dataset, you can just create a new report in service. on the left-top, new-> create a new report or upload a file.
