Using Power BI with Azure license/subscription

Hi,

I am a student assistant and I am searching for some information regarding Power BI usage through our department's Azure account. Can I use Power BI with our Azure's license, or would I need to arrange a separate license? Essentially I am documenting using Power BI for our students, but using the university's department subscription. Please let me know if this possible?

I know about using Azure's DBs for data and then connecting that database directly to PowerBI, but I am looking for like setting up direct access to the users' accounts using the department's premium subscription.

Power BI falls within the Office 365 eco system.  In a usual scenario, users would log in with their company emails and the free licensed would be assigned as part of the Office 365 Tenant. I'm not sure how Office 365 works for universities, but that would be the rabbit hole you'd need to explore.

Azure licenses will really only influence the 'data source' aspect of power bi, rather than the use of the Power BI service itself.

Thank you for your comment. I guess the PowerBI Pro isn't commercially available as a University subscription but needs to be bought as a standalone license. I saw the PowerBI Server can be used as a premium service but I don't think the students require such high features and premium service just for two classes and a basic project.
