Hi All,
We have several datasets in the PBI Service.
Reports are connected to these datasets (datasets in one workspace, reports in another).
We want to create one report that will show statistics of all these datasets and reports that are connected to them, and information on the viewers.
We can find some basic statistics for a particular dataset.
But we would like to have one report with info on all our datasets in one place.
And maybe it would be possible to have some more information, not only total number of viewers.
Is it possible to create such a report?
If yes, then how?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Then you are only limited to the out-of-the-box report usage metric. One expansion that you may be able to do:
1- go to any report
2- create the usage metric of the report
3- save the report in the same workspace
4- edit the report to remove the filter that is filtering just 1 report. ( filter pane)
This way you can have a report where you can view the report usage for all the reports in the workspace. It may not fulfill what you want to do, but thats the limitation if you dont have rights to access the metadata of the tenant.
Hi AnetaK,
Currently you can get the most data from the Power BI Scanner API. This is pretty awesome, you will be able to pull meta data of your power bi tenant, including, workspaces, users, dataset and tables and more.
https://powerbi.microsoft.com/fr-fr/blog/scanner-api-is-now-in-ga/
There are requirements to set this up e.g:
- Must be a power bi admin
- Must set up a security group
- Change settings in Power BI admin portal
If you have access to go all above 3, you can set it up by referring to the step-by-step video here:
Hi, Can we get the underlying DAX formulas for measures in Usage Metrics Report using Scanner API?
Like we can see for other dataset measures. If not, is there any other way to get those calculations ?
Thank you.
Thank you for the answer.
This is an international corporation, we don't have tenant-admin rights, only admin of a workspace.

Thank you. I'll try.
