Usage Metrics stopped refreshing after sequential fails
Hi!
My client Usage Metrics was working fine, but since 01/22/2021 it stopped to work, with a warning on report alerting me to check the refresh history and data source credential in the Usage Metrics Report Dataset:
The refresh history is:
Since 01/26/2021 it failed with this error:
{"error":{"code":"DMTS_OAuthTokenRefreshFailedError","pbi.error":{"code":"DMTS_OAuthTokenRefreshFailedError","parameters":{"ConnectionDetails":"{\"kind\":\"UsageMetricsDataConnector\",\"path\":\"UsageMetricsDataConnector\"}","CredentialType":"OAuth2","DatasourceType":"Extension"},"details":[{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage","detail":{"type":1,"value":"AADSTS50076: Due to a configuration change made by your administrator, or because you moved to a new location, you must use multi-factor authentication to access '00000009-0000-0000-c000-000000000000'.\r\nTrace ID: c35a5644-5e5b-4b9b-baad-768c048d0200\r\nCorrelation ID: 711b03f3-0446-4c47-a596-9c17746c7aaa\r\nTimestamp: 2021-01-29 23:02:34Z"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage","detail":{"type":1,"value":"AADSTS50076: Due to a configuration change made by your administrator, or because you moved to a new location, you must use multi-factor authentication to access '00000009-0000-0000-c000-000000000000'.\r\nTrace ID: c35a5644-5e5b-4b9b-baad-768c048d0200\r\nCorrelation ID: 711b03f3-0446-4c47-a596-9c17746c7aaa\r\nTimestamp: 2021-01-29 23:02:34Z"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2146233088"}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table: Report rank.
After that (one week ago), I've edited the Credentials of the Dataset, logged with my account with OAuth2 authentication:
The Login worked, and my credentials appears ok:
But the Usage Metrics Reports Dataset does not refresh, it's stuck in 01/29/2021 fail, and even after my credentials changes (1 week ago), it does not try to update any more.. What's going here?
I opened a ticket, and this issue got resolved by deleting the Usage Metrics Dataset and recreate one again as mentioned in the troubleshooting guide: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-modern-usage-metrics#troubleshoot-delete-the-dataset

Due to a configuration change made by your administrator, or because you moved to a new location, you must use multi-factor authenticationI would say you're screwed. OATH2 is not MFA.
