Usage Metrics - Different Results New vs Old

Hi,

I have a query regarding the numbers in the Usage Metrics Report when comparing the old style report to the new style report.

E.g., I have selected the 29th January 2020 in one of graphs to filter the data. The results new vs old are different....screen shots below.

Total viewers is 25 for both reports - great! Total views is different, 119 in old against 73 in new. Any reason why?

Something else I notice - I don't believe the numbers in the New report with regards to the distrubtuion split. The results show a 53/47 split of report views between shared/workspace. The report is only available to view in workspace and has never been 'shared'.

Anybody else getting strange results in the new look usage metrics?

Thanks,

Martyn

@Anonymous Yeah, if you take a look at the release article they talk about how the metrics are fundementally different. They include a new page that describes that in the report, but for more detail about "why" things are different I think the article clears that up. https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-improved-report-usage-metrics-in-modern-workspaces/

Thank you both for your replies.

Just read the update notes - the 'report views' is now much more accurate and the reason why the number is much lower than the old report.

Thanks again!

Hi, @Anonymous

Based on your description, If you suspect data consistency or refresh issues, it might make sense to delete the existing Usage Metrics Report dataset. Then you can run View Usage Metrics again to generate a new dataset with its associated improved usage metrics reports.

For further information, you may refer to the following link. It may help.
