Hello Community,
Whenever I upload a .pbix file from SharePoint to PBI Service three items are created:
A dataset
A report
A dashboard
The dashboard only contains a link to the report.
So far it seems safe to just delete the dashboard but I am wondering why it is created and if I can turn it off/avoid it somehow?
Hi @BIanon,
When you upload a .pbix file from SharePoint to Power BI Service, a dashboard is automatically created to help you easily access and share the report. However, if you do not find the dashboard useful or want to avoid creating it altogether, there are a few options available to you.
First, when you upload the .pbix file, you can uncheck the "Create a dashboard" option in the import dialog. This will prevent the creation of a dashboard and only create a dataset and report.
If you have already uploaded the .pbix file and the dashboard has been created, you can delete it without affecting the dataset or report. Simply click on the "Dashboard" tab, select the dashboard you want to delete, and click the "Delete" button.
Alternatively, you can also create a new dashboard and manually add the report to it. This gives you more control over the dashboard and allows you to customize it to your liking.
Overall, the dashboard is created to help you quickly access and share your report, but it is not necessary for the report to function properly. So, if you do not find it useful, you can safely delete it or avoid creating it altogether.
Best regards,
Isaac Chavarria

Thank you for your response.
I think I'm missing something but how is it easier to click share on a dashboard where the user then has to navigate to the report as opposed to just sharing the report right away?
Would you happen to have any tips regarding migrating .pbix files to SP? Replace deosn't seem to work the same way. I would like to get my models into SP without being forced to uninstall my app.
