Upgrading to Power BI Premium per user
Looking for help with the process to upgrade from the shared service to PPU.
I have a workspace with a database currently in it. I have published this database so others can pull it into their workspaces to create reports. This gives me a single centralized database that I can maintain and pushout changes to the other workspaces.
Im finding out that the main workspace has a limit of around 320 megs before the database will no longer refresh due to memory allocation limit. Im told the fixe to this is to upgrade to Premium per user.
Now in looking at this closer Im realizing that if I upgrade my main workspace to PPU then anyone that wants to use this db in that workspace has to have a BI user license for PPU. no problem here.
My issue is this db is used in several other workspaces. If I upgrade the main workspace do all the others that are using this db have to be upgraded as well. If that is the case will the single license allow users to get into all of these upgraded workspaces. Thanks for the insight on how this works.
Hi bwhitlock
No those App Workspaces can stay as is. It is just those users who connect to a report where the dataset is in PPU will need a PPU License.

thanks for the insites GilberQ. What about the other workspaces that use the main database that resides in the premium capacity workspace. Do I need to upgrade them and link them to the capacity?
