I am trying to add Smartsheet as an external data source.
After selecting Smartsheet as a data source, it prompts me to login in to Smartsheet (see screenshot below).
When I click 'Sign in', I get an error message from Smartsheet that 'Your browser is not supported' (see screenshot below).
Chrome is my default browser (which is supported in Smartsheet). It appears that Power BI is being identified as an unsupported browser when trying to connect to Smartsheet? Is there a way to fix this issue?
Thanks!
Power BI settings in File > Options > Security > Authentication Browser > Enable "Use my default browser"
This did not fix my issue when I tried that. It did not even attempt to open my correct browser and did not recognize any of my installed browsers and would also prompt me to download one of the browsers (and still does not recognize any browsers that are installed). I also tried accessing from the website instead of desktop application and going about that route with other solutions.
I was finally able to use the normal login a few weeks ago after several months of not being able to.
I suspect that when Smartsheet updated their browser requirements back in August, the built in browser in Powerbi did not meet those requirements. I also suspect the security settings from my organization prevented my browser from being opened or even recognized as being installed which would explain why I saw the prompt to download a browser even though I have a few installed.
I am unable to change security settings managed my my organization so I had to wait until they updated the built in browser in the previous update (there has been another update since).
I'm sure other organizations have similar restrictions that caused similar issues.
Even here. Smartsheet doesn't work with IE and it broke my panel. Ideally, PBI would open the request in an external browser.
Hi @bwheatley ,
One thing that is certain is that Smartsheet is fully supported by Google Chrome
I have read the article about System Requirements and Guidelines for Using Smartsheet and it mentions some limitations about Power BI when using Smartsheet, please check if it helps.
For more information, please see:System Requirements and Guidelines for Using Smartsheet
Hope it helps,

I am also having this error.
My Powerbi automatically updated on 8/31. I tried to refresh data and since then I cannot sign in to smartsheet. I receive the same error and it tells me the same thing about the browser - even through chrome is my default browser and is up to date.
Hoping to be notified when this is resolved or there is a solution for this.
