Unstructured text search in Power BI Q&A
- 10 years ago
solcelle We don't yet have unstructured text analysis in Q&A. You can suggest the idea to us at ideas.powerbi.com
Not aware of anything native to do this but I did something similar to what you are wanting to do using R and Power BI:
Thank you for your response and for sharing a link to your blog post. That's a really interesting approach. However, I was hoping that Power BI had native unstructured text search / filters.

I just found out that the Advanced filter option allows users to specify that a column contains a keyword. However, there is a limitation of two keywords, i.e. KeywordA AND/OR KeywordB.
In an ideal world I would be able to search for more keywords and/or phrases in the text column through the Q&A search field, so that I could do more advance filtering.
Example: COUNT Items WHERE DescriptionText CONTAINS California AND "solar power" AND study

An alternative solution is you create and associate for each row who contains a text description your own list of keywords.
It's a new table who linked with your master table.
But how determinated these keywors ? (with "M" language in the queries editor)
Like this columns:
Description = "......."
Keyword1= ...
Keyword2= ...
Keyword3= ...
..
And maybe with Q&A you can use it this special column to create a complex filter.
I think you can purpose your idea in the feedback zone :)
